Part-Time Social Media & Marketing Intern
New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association (NJLCA)
Location: Elmwood Park, NJ
Position: Part-Time, Paid Internship
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, plus occasional evenings and weekends for events
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
Are You Creative, Social Media Savvy, and Full of Ideas?
The New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association (NJLCA) is looking for a creative, motivated, and enthusiastic Social Media & Marketing Intern to help us grow our online presence, engage our members, and showcase everything happening in New Jersey’s landscape and green industries.
We’re not looking for someone to simply post a few pictures and call it a day. We want someone who enjoys creating content, understands what makes people stop scrolling, and isn’t afraid to bring fresh ideas to the table!
This is a great opportunity for a college student studying marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field, or someone looking to gain hands-on experience managing social media for a professional trade association.
What You’ll Be Doing
Social Media & Content Creation
- Create engaging social media posts, graphics, stories, and short-form videos for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
- Develop creative content that highlights NJLCA members, industry news, educational opportunities, and upcoming events.
- Help maintain a consistent social media posting schedule and content calendar.
- Write engaging captions, headlines, and calls to action.
- Brainstorm creative campaigns to grow followers, increase engagement, and promote NJLCA membership.
- Monitor social media engagement and help identify opportunities for growth.
- Photography, Video & Event Coverage
Attend select NJLCA events, including membership meetings, trade shows, educational programs, networking events, and special events.
- Capture photographs and videos that showcase our members, sponsors, speakers, and activities.
- Create Instagram and Facebook Reels, event recaps, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Help tell the NJLCA story through authentic, interesting, and entertaining content.
- Marketing & Communications Support
Assist with promotional graphics and digital marketing materials.
- Help highlight member businesses, accomplishments, and industry contributions.
- Support marketing campaigns for NJLCA events, membership recruitment, and association programs.
- Organize digital photos, videos, and other marketing assets.
- Collaborate with NJLCA staff on new ideas to increase the association’s visibility.
What We’re Looking For:
- Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and current social media trends.
- Basic graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs.
- Ability to create and edit short-form videos using tools such as CapCut, Canva, or similar software.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and an eye for good photography and design.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to attend occasional evening or weekend events.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Bonus Points If You:
- Have experience using AI tools for content creation and marketing.
- Enjoy photography, videography, or graphic design.
- Have managed social media accounts for a club, organization, business, or personal brand.
- Know how to turn an ordinary moment into an entertaining Reel.
- Have an interest in landscaping, horticulture, environmental issues, or small business (but this is definitely not required!).
What You’ll Gain
This isn’t an internship where you’ll spend your time filing paperwork or making coffee.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Build a portfolio of real social media campaigns, graphics, photography, and videos.
- Gain hands-on experience with marketing for a statewide professional association.
- Attend industry events and connect with business owners and professionals.
- Learn about event marketing, membership engagement, nonprofit communications, and brand development.
- See your creative ideas come to life and make a measurable impact.
- Work directly with NJLCA leadership and gain valuable professional experience.
Schedule & Compensation
This is a paid, part-time position averaging approximately 10 hours per week, with additional paid hours for select NJLCA events. Some evening availability will be required.
We understand that students have classes and other commitments, and we are willing to work with the right candidate to develop a mutually agreeable schedule.
